There is lot of talk whether from the Muslim or Christian sources that Jesus A.S is coming into this world a second time for their own various beliefs. However, there are clear evidences in the Quran that there in no second coming by the fact that he is dead and only will appear again on the Day of Resurrection.
The argument that whether Jesus is coming back or not is based on the interpretation of this verse of the Quran which says –
Surah 4:157 That they said (in boast), “We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah”; but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:-
According to Muslim sources especially from the Hadith, Allah saved Jesus from death of crucifixion by raising him up temporarily and on a specific date in the future Allah will send him back into this world. Muslims believe that Jesus will return at the end of time and will clear all the confusion prevailing in the world regarding his life and mission.
However, controversy is being raised especially the Christians who believed that Jesus died on the Cross by crucifixion but was resurrected after three days and live again until now. They claimed that if the Muslims believed that Jesus did not died then who was crucified on the Cross? Some Muslim sources make the excuse that Jesus was replaced by another man who looked alike but that was not a convincing conclusion as there is no historical or social facts to support such claim.
Nevertheless, the information in the Surah 4:157 which says “but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them” can give an interpretation to save Jesus Allah create a delusion of the image of Jesus while saving the real Jesus. This is not an impossibility to Allah as He is capable of creating “mirage” as those who stranded in the desert think that it was water –
Surah 24:39 But the Unbelievers,- their deeds are like a mirage in sandy deserts, which the man parched with thirst mistakes for water; until when he comes up to it, he finds it to be nothing: But he finds Allah (ever) with him, and Allah will pay him his account: and Allah is swift in taking account.
With the “mirage” evidences from the Quran showing that he was saved by Allah from being crucified on the Cross at Surah 4:157, he was not the only one being saved at a critical moment as Allah also saved Jonah from death in the fish tummy or Abraham from the raging fire in the following verses of the Quran –
Surah 21:87-88 And [mention] the man of the fish, when he went off in anger and thought that We would not decree [anything] upon him. And he called out within the darkness, “There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers.” So, We responded to him and saved him from the distress. And thus, do We save the believers.
Surah 21:68-69 They said, “Burn him and support your gods – if you are to act.” Allah said, “O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham.”
Although all of them were saved, in which showing Jesus from crucifixion, Jonah in the fish tummy and Abraham from the fire, they all died soon after on natural reason as no man is created immortal as stated in these verses –
Surah 21:34 And We did not grant to any man before you, eternity [on earth]; so, if you die – would they be eternal?
Surah 39:30 Truly thou wilt die (one day), and truly they (too) will die (one day).
As for Jesus although he was saved from crucifixion, other evidences given in the Quran he is now dead and will only come back as any other on the Day of Resurrection as proven by these verses –
Surah 19:33 “So peace is on me the day I was born, the day that I die, and the day that I shall be raised up to life (again)”!
Surah 3:55 Behold! Allah said: “O Jesus! I will make you die (mutawaffika) and raise you to Myself and clear you (of the falsehoods) of those who blaspheme; I will make those who follow you superior to those who reject faith, to the Day of Resurrection: Then shall you all return unto me, and I will judge between you of the matters wherein you dispute.
And Jesus is dead today and not in heaven to come back a second coming as it is clear from the evidence below he is a mortal –
Surah 5:116-117And behold! Allah will say: “O Jesus the son of Mary! Did thou say unto men, worship me and my mother as two gods in derogation of Allah’?” He will say: “Glory to Thee! never could I say what I had no right to say. Had I said such a thing, thou would indeed have known it. Thou know what is in my heart, Thou I know not what is in Thine. For Thou know in full all that is hidden. Never said I to them aught except what Thou did command me to say, to wit, ‘worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord’; and I was a witness over them while I dwelt among them; when Thou make me die Thou was the Watcher over them, and Thou art a witness to all things.
To conclude, if Jesus is alive this day, he would have witnessed billions of Christians worshipping him but he said in the hereafter he did not witness that or he is among mankind here and now but it is Allah that is the witness and is the watcher over human kind. Jesus is only a man and not god –
Surah 5:72 They do blaspheme who say: “Allah is Christ the son of Mary.” But said Christ: “O Children of Israel! worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord.” Whoever joins other gods with Allah, Allah will forbid him the garden, and the Fire will be his abode. There will for the wrong-doers be no one to help.
Surah 5:75 Christ the son of Mary was no more than a messenger; many were the messengers that passed away before him. His mother was a woman of truth. They had both to eat their (daily) food. See how Allah doth make His signs clear to them; yet see in what ways they are deluded away from the truth!
